Basic Needs
Food is our basic needs. The basic means, that food is needed for our health. But in a broader sense, foods are eaten for variety purposes. Not only physiological purpose, food choices are influenced by one's tastes, budget and cultural attitudes.
Physiologically, foods eaten are used for energy, building all tissues and obtaining or producing numerous regulatory substances. The nutrient from food divide into six major classes : carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals and water. The general function of these nutrient are : furnish energy (provided by carbohydrates, fats and minerals), build and maintain body tissues (provided by proteins, minerals and water), regulate body processes (provided by proteins, minerals, vitamins and water).
